Here are excerpts from the invitation mail by the organizers...

Central University of Tibetan Studies, Sarnath

 and

Gujarat Vidyapeeth, Ahmedabad

As part of the Centenary celebrations the Central University of Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, Varanasi and the Gujarat Vidyapeeth have planned a ten day camp (Shivir) at Sarnath during 2nd and 11th April, 2009. Gandhiji had firmly held his conviction on the world view he had presented in the Hind Swaraj and also on the foundations he specified for the social reconstruction. Unfortunately, during his times and also soon after Independence, the leaders hardly paid any attention to work for the Hind Swaraj. Interestingly, after hundred years the situation world over is such that the fundamentals of Gandhian thought are being referred to and revisited. The threats from the nature and the threats from fellow men are intensifying and a search for sustainable solution has begun. The broad objective of the proposed shibir is to discuss, share and learn from the Hind Swaraj in the backdrop of the current situation and plan for awareness generation and action programmes.

The specific objectives of the Shibir are the following.

To undertake a comprehensive review of the Hind Swaraj in the context the present global situation and with specific case study of Tibet situation
To understand the strength of the Soul Force with the help of discourses on Buddhism and Gandhian Thought

To train the participants in camp organisation and management for propagating the philosophy of Hind Swaraj in the country  THe Shibir will be attended by about 60 persons ...the language of the Shibir will be Hindi.

Ordinary Life

Ordinary life integrates within itself functionally and meaningfully everything there is but depends upon nothing in particular. Thus ordinary life is both rich and essential at the same time. It is not just the life of ordinary men and women – both its infinite richness and essentialness make it all pervasive. Life pre-supposes ordinary life. This means that wherever there is life, there is ordinary life, and the absence of the latter amounts not only to merely the absence of any other forms of life but to situations or conditions in which it makes no sense to talk of human life. Changes unleashed by information technology and bioengineering are leading to the imagining of such forms of life in future as are devoid of ordinary life. This involves a contradiction, for no life is imaginable without ordinary life. Just as you can have formal or technical languages for specific and well-defined tasks but not as a substitute for ordinary language, and just as you necessarily require ordin
